Shall We Dance: I absolutely loved this movie with Jennifer Lopez! She plays Paulina, a dance instructor at a small, unassuming ballroom dance school in which Richard Gere passes by on the subway everyday on his commute to work in the city.

Richard's character (John Clark) decides to stop at the school one day after work and check it out since he saw Paulina from one of the studio's windows. As he enters the school, he is approached by the delightful Anita Gillette (who plays Ms. Mitzi, the dance school owner). She immediately talks him into taking some lessons and after some hesitation, he finally agrees.

The school doesn't have many students but there are some including Vern, who is learning how to dance for his upcoming wedding and Link who we later find out is John's co-worker wearing a toupee over his bald head to appear younger - hilarious.

John stops by the school just about every day after work and takes his lesson with Paulina who tells him of how she once competed in dance competitions around the world. John was taken with her immediately. After all, Paulina was the reason he signed up for dance lessons in the first place. (Back at home, John's wife Beverly [Susan Sarandon] wonders why he isn't coming home after work. She thinks he must be having an affair because he doesn't show her the same affection to her that he used to when they were first married). Back at the school, Ms. Mitzi talks of a dance competition and feels all of her students are good enough to enter.

She prepares them for the competition which involves long and grueling hours of practice and more practice. John's partner is Bobbie. I like her character. She takes no B.S. from anyone. John is having problems with a routine and one day after class, Paulina agrees to give him a lesson in how to feel the music and just dance. The day of the competition approaches. Beverly finds out about the competition and decides to go and see what her husband is up to. When John and Bobbie are dancing, John's daughter is clapping and yelling "Way to go dad," John is disoriented for a moment and steps on Bobbie's gown and rips it exposing her legs.

The music stops and everyone in the audience is silent. Bobbie runs off the floor and is mortified. Needless to say, they did not win the competition that day. Things return to normal after that. Ms. Mitzi is still teaching her students. Link and Bobbie start seeing each other. Paulina moves away to pursue her dreams. Vern dances with his new bride on their wedding day. John and Beverly feel that same passion that they felt in the beginning of their marriage once again.
