Jennifer Lopez's career began early in the 1990s when she performed as a back up dancer for rap vidoes. Since then she has appeared in numerous movies which included the 1998 film Out of Sight which also starred George Clooney, Don Cheadle and Ving Rhames.

This movie received good reviews by many film critics and Lopez's peformance was considered one of her best to date. She received three award nominations for her role and won the ALMA award for outstanding actress.

In the film, Lopez plays the part of U.S. Marshal Karen Sisco and she has to hunt down a criminal named Jack Foley (Clooney) before he robs a wealthy man of his diamonds.

Foley had escaped from prison in order to carry out this caper and Sisco encounters him as he gets away from a bank robbery. The two develop feelings for each other and as Sisco hunts down Foley she has to decide if she is doing so for love or justice.

Don Cheadle appears in the film in the role of Maurice Miller who is a hardened convict who desires to steal the diamonds for himself. Miller and his gang run interference with Foley and Sisco all throughout the film and they add to the excitement and danger as the movie unfolds. Samuel Jackson and Michael Keaton are two other major Hollywood actors that also lend their talents to the picture.

Out of Sight grossed over 77 million at the box office and Jennifer Lopez had established herself as a talent worth watching. Her role was praised in many reviews and many people thought she had done a better job than with most of her previous films.

Lopez's on screen chemistry with Clooney was also well noted by critics. They claimed that she performed well during the scenes that involved kissing and as Clooney's romantic love interest.
