In the movie Enough, Jennifer Lopez portrays the character, Slim, an abused wife who ends up in a fight for her life as she tries to protect her daughter from the clutches of her violent, unfaithful husband.
The movie takes place in San Francisco where she works at a restaurant with her best friend, Ginny. She meets the man of her dreams, Mitch Hiller, when he comes into the restaurant one day and defends her against a man who is attempting to make advances toward her under false pretenses. She ends up marrying Mitch and having a little girl, Gracie.
As time goes on, her husband becomes distant and secretive and it becomes obvious that he is cheating on her. Once she confronts him he becomes violent and physically abusive causing her to fear him and plan her escape from him. She ends up going into hiding with her young daughter and constantly running as her husband tracks her and continues to threaten and terrorize her.
This movie was intense at times and had a great storyline. Jennifer Lopez did an excellent job portraying a strong wife who had the backbone to stand up to her violent husband and show that she would not continue to be abused and humiliated.
She would do whatever it took to protect herself and her daughter. Going through the steps of learning how to defend herself against her attacker she took matters into her own hands and ends up fighting him to the death. Her portrayal should be an inspiration to women who are faced with abusive spouses in real life.
Far too many women are faced with violent, abusive relationships and don't have the courage or backbone to leave. You definitely end up rooting for Slim in this movie and loathing the cheating, brutal husband. A woman should always do what is needed to protect herself and her children.
