The year 1997 was a very busy one for actress Jennifer Lopez. She appeared in at least 3 different films that were all released during that time period. One of these films was titled "Anaconda" and it starred Ice Cube, Jon Voight, Eric Stolz, Owen Wilson and Danny Trejo.
This film is about a crew of researchers and scientists who work for National Geographic. While they are searching for a lost tribe in the Amazonian Rainforests they end up confronting a large anaconda snake. The snake isn't their only problem, the team of explorers also have to confront a hunter (Voight) who uses the crew as bait in order to capture the reptile.
Jennifer Lopez plays the role of Terri Flores and she heads the expedition with Dr. Steven Cale (Stolz). During the journey the team encounters Sarone (Voight) when they discover that his boat is not operational.
The reseachers brings Sarone onboard their boat and shortly after they do Cale becomes seriously ill from a wasp sting. Once Cale becomes sick and in need of medical attention, Sarone lets his true intentions come to light. He forces Flores and her crew to chase down an anaconda snake that he has been tracking.
This movie has a lot of twists and turns and is filled with excitement as the crew battles against the hardened and cunning Sarone and the fearsome gigantic slithering creature. Anaconda wasn't well received at the box office and many critics dismissed at as a bad film but it has become a cult classic for horror and suspense movie fans.
Jennifer Lopez received mixed reviews for her role and some critics thought she did an okay job while others called her acting talent in the film bad or predictable. Overall, her performance in Anaconda didn't win her any awards or accolades but it did play a role with expanding her notoriety as an actress.
